Solar Street Lights: Sustainable Lighting:


The solar street lighting system is similar to a small universe with precise coordination. The lamp acts as the core output unit for lighting, and the light source is responsible for converting electrical energy into light energy—such as fluorescent lamps, sodium lamps, metal halide lamps, and LED light sources. Fluorescent lamps have a luminous efficiency of more than 80Lm/W and a lifespan of up to 8,000-10,000 hours; high-pressure sodium lamps have a luminous efficiency of about 120Lm/W and a service life of up to 24,000 hours; LED light sources have become the mainstream choice for solar street lamps due to their high brightness, long lifespan, and low energy consumption. Optical components adjust the direction and diffusion angle of light, mechanical components ensure the stability and durability of the lamp, and electrical components work with the light source to achieve stable operation.
The solar panel is the "energy collector" of the system. It is composed of solar cells connected in series and parallel, sealed with tempered glass, EVA, and TPT, and surrounded by an aluminum alloy frame. Like a hardworking "little sun", it converts solar radiation into electrical energy, resists wind and hail, and is easy to install. The battery is an "energy storage tank" that stores electrical energy when there is sufficient light and releases it when lighting is needed, ensuring a stable power supply for the light source at night. As the "intelligent brain" of the system, the solar controller provides the best charging current and voltage for the battery, prevents overcharging and deep discharging, and prolongs the service life of the battery. The poles work closely with the base: the base lays power cables to support the street lights, and the base firmly fixes the lampposts to ensure that the entire system stands upright.
During the day, under the command of the intelligent controller, the solar panels absorb solar energy, convert it into electricity, and charge the battery pack. At night, the battery pack releases electrical energy to power the light source and realize the lighting function. The whole process is automated with little manual intervention.
The development of solar street lamps has a rich history. In 1900, inventor Clarence Kemp patented the design of the first solar street lamp, marking the beginning of its history. In the 1960s, photovoltaic-powered navigation devices and lighting appeared on the streets, and solar lighting was officially born. In 1973, countries around the world actively carried out research on the ground application of solar cells, and related projects emerged in large numbers. There are many ways to classify solar street lamps.
